We serve underserved communities by building equitable systems that strengthen social connections and empower people to use their data to improve their well-being. Through technology, Entidad helps bridge the digital access gap, creating tools and pathways that expand opportunity, access, and community resilience.

Entidad is a California Public Benefit corporation founded in 2018 by Jesus Torres, Jorge Flores, and René Solórzano, three friends that met while pursuing engineering degrees at Stanford University. The organization grew out of volunteer efforts to support farm workers and underserved communities who were struggling to access critical resources through traditional systems.
What began as a grassroots initiative quickly evolved into the development of secure software platforms designed to help community organizations reach workers directly. Through these efforts, Entidad solutions helped deliver more than $80 million in USDA disaster relief funding to over 120,000 farm workers across the United States, demonstrating how accessible, trusted technology can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
Entidad’s work has been recognized for its social impact and innovation. The team receivedtwo awards, “Most Compelling and Most Socially Impactful” at the California DMV Mobile Driver’s License Hackathon and was named a JMK Innovation Prize Awardee for advancing technology that strengthens communities. The organization has also received support from multiple philanthropic partners committed to building digital infrastructure that serves workers and community organizations with dignity, privacy, and trust.
Today, Entidad is actively engaged in national and global conversations about responsible technology and data ownership. The organization participates ininitiatives and other collaborations focused on advancing individual data sovereignty and community-controlled digital infrastructure. These efforts help inform Entidad’s approach to building technology that prioritizes transparency, privacy, and the empowerment of individuals and communities.

Building onlessons learned from years of working alongside worker organizations and publicagencies, Entidad recently launched Unmio, a free app that enables communitymembers to form their own private network, where they can safely communicateand engage, without surveillance, advertising, or selling of personal data.
Looking ahead, Unmio’s roadmap will include tools and services to help underserved communities, low-wage workers, and other marginalized communities discover job opportunities, understand pay rates before accepting work, and make betterinformed employment decisions directly from their smartphones.
